Statement of Faith
5th Gospel Christians is a charitable organisation underpinned by the principle of Catholic Social Teaching that Human Dignity is based on the bedrock Christian belief that all people are created in the likeness and image of God. (Rerum Novarum 1891 and subsequent Papal documents) Therefore, all human beings, along with the whole of God’s creation, have value and are worthy of respect. A concern for justice, peace and genuine respect for people demands that the hungry are fed, and the values of life as a gift from God, of family, integral education and health and security, must also be promoted and protected for human development and the common good.
5th Gospel Christians aims to follow these values in solidarity with the Christians of the Middle East, upholding by lawful and peaceful means their right to live in spiritual freedom and peace, with adequate food and shelter, healthcare and education. We support those with disabilities and special needs, and those requiring advocacy. We stand alongside our beneficiaries, learning from them and with them through relationships of friendship and equality, based on mutual respect.
We aim to keep hope alive and morale high by listening and attending to needs as best we can through close contact via education and counselling, particularly among those living under political oppression and displaced from their ancestral homes, and with Christian refugees who have been persecuted for their faith.
